Unlike prefabricated tactile products, Vanguard’s liquid-applied system is not restricted to straight lines or standard shapes. Its flexible application allows us to create curved, circular, angled and custom tactile layouts that follow the unique design of each site.

In 2026, accessibility improvements were completed at two heavily used Calgary Transit locations—Rundle LRT Station and Chinook LRT Station. Both stations experience significant daily pedestrian traffic, making clear and reliable tactile wayfinding essential for blind and visually impaired passengers.

As part of a pedestrian accessibility improvement initiative, the City of Pitt Meadows introduced tactile detectable warning surfaces at four intersections to enhance safety and independent navigation for blind and visually impaired pedestrians.Vanguard ADA Systems supplied its liquid-applied Detectable Dome system, with TransCanada Vanguard completing the surface preparation and installation.

A Calgary Transit accessibility initiative, this project introduced tactile directional indicators (TDIs) across two major LRT platforms — SAIT/ACAD/Jubilee Station and Brentwood Station — to enhance navigation for blind and visually impaired riders. The City required a system capable of withstanding Calgary’s extreme weather conditions, from –45°C to +45°C, ensuring long-term durability through constant expansion and contraction cycles.

This installation improved accessibility and pedestrian safety at a busy Vancouver plaza. Two radius-shaped guide strips were commissioned to assist individuals with vision impairment in safely navigating the area, aligning with the City of Vancouver’s accessibility goals.
